A Little Black Friday Shopping

So I've never really been Black Friday shopping. But I've heard the horror stories from my mom. She doesn't even go anymore. It's easier to just get on the computer, order what you want, and send it to your house.

But there were a few things my dad wanted from Academy, a local sporting goods store. So I decided to brave the throngs of people with him and woke up at a lovely 4:15 am. We made our way over to there... not too much traffic, although we avoid any and all Walmarts, Targets, malls, etc. I was surprised at the number of people lined up to get into Academy. It was crazy. Then when the doors opened, at 5, people started cheering. I was like, seriously, you're cheering for a sporting goods store?

It was a mad rush through the store. My dad went to get a few things and I was searching for these keypad personal safes that were on sale. I found the display, near the front of the store, but couldn't find any safes. Finally, an employee tells me they're "by the 3rd price scanner". I run, well really walked fast, down there and am searching all over. I can't find these. I finally find another employee who tells me "oh, they're at the front of the store". Nope. You're other buddy up there already told me there wasn't any and I couldn't find them either. She (quite rudely I might add) helped me look for them while huffing and constantly stopping to help other people. We finally found them, near the FOURTH price scanner. I grabbed 2 (only 2 left after that) and tried to make my way to the front where my dad was. Now, these things aren't light. And I'm carrying TWO. I can barely see in front of me. I know what you're thinking... why didn't you get a buggy. 1. I didn't think about that beforehand. Yea, smart thinking there. 2. I didn't want to leave the safes in case someone else found them. and 3. It would only slow me down!

Finally got back to dad who was filling out a whole bunch of paperwork. He was buying 2 handguns that were on a serious sale. Yea, I know, there's a lot of anti-gun people out there, but we live in the south. NRA capitol of the world. Anyways, the employee has to escort you with the guns to check out. No bypass for them either. Nope, we had to wait in line. Poor guy. He has to escort every person who buys a gun. And there were a bunch of people in line. So we split up. My line ended up moving faster so they moved over with me. Then we FINALLY got checked out and got escorted to the door before my dad was actually handed his guns.

Then it was time for some IHOP. MMMmmm. But it was seriously packed! Shouldn't these people be shopping or something? ;) It was a good meal, despite them being out of stuff (steak- my dad wanted a steak omelette, and ham). And the waitress was kind of rude. She took our menus way before taking our orders. So my dad didn't know what to choose after she told him there was not steak. And she told the people next to us they needed to "pick something now because there's a line of people waiting to eat". Yea, kinda rude in my opinion. But regardless, I was happy and full afterwards. Then we made a quick stop at Home Depot then home. I took a little nap and then started CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS! (my mom has this rule that we have to wait until one holiday is finished before we can start on the next) Pictures coming soon!

So I had a very limited view of Black Friday, but I personally think the whole shopping online thing is way better and more convenient! Plus I heard about one person in another town getting stabbed at a Walmart over a trampoline and a 5 year old getting hit by a car in the Target parking lot. (From what I understand, everyone was relatively ok)

So, what did you do for Black Friday? Any good sales? Any family traditions? I'd love to hear about them!

It sounds like you had a crazy Black Friday! We were lazy and did all our shopping online. Really, it seemed like all the exact same deals were available and we never had to change out of our pajamas :)

Hey girlie!! So, I was wondering if you would mind if I switched up my blog template a little. I know I told you originally that I would keep it up until January, but I'm thinking a Christmas one would be fun! So, I'm wondering if you would like to create a few for me to see! :) Would you want to do it for free and I would post about YOU? or what do you charge? K, let me know! I'm excited!! Or, if you think it's fair for me to leave it the same, that's fine too. I promised you when you woon the contest that I would keep it for 3 months. I have LOVED it, by the way!!! xoxo

I am a wimp and refuse to go out for Black Friday. I did that one and got so bumped and bruised that I swore never again.

Normally we would put our Christmas decorations up but my mother was here from PA and we braved the crowds. We really just wanted the fun of shopping together so we went where the crowds weren't: TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby and JoAnns. Finished off with a Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks.
